igor spectre press

Deathrock.com February 2004
This is gothic rock in its most literal form - quite competent if not extraordinary rock and roll with a surf slant to it. Sprouting from that foundation are juts of gothic guitar and organs as well as morose but slapstick lyrics that all come together to form a handful of really great songs! Igor Spectre pokes fun at gothic cliché's that'll have you laughing your fangs out. Its got camp, wit, and excellent musicianship with catchy hooks! Their full album pre-release which I was forwarded as well is just as good and promises to usher in many entertaining moments!

No-Fi Magazine
"I know what I like and this is it. Igor Spectre is everything a rock & roll band should be: absolutely fun, diverse, able to handle a David Bowie cover song ('Ziggy Stardust Redux'), a Tom Waits-ian dirge ('Woe Is Me') and the best song about aimless vampire-aspiring Goths (the stellar 'Fangs Out First') with equal aplomb and a kickass live show. 'We Miss The Russians' is that rare album that captures the band’s live performance energy well."

Rock City News
"The beginning of (We Miss The Russians) is very reminiscent of The Damned, and continues throughout the record with a Cramps and Fields of the Nephilim-like feel. However, they're not afraid to throw in some of the goth sounds of the 80's into their music as well. There's even a deathpunk version of David Bowie's classic 'Ziggy Stardust' on here. Braxus Bane's guitar work is incredible and the brooding voice of Robert James has a Dave Vanian style, but sound of all his own.... Igor Spectre is definitely one of those bands to look out for. ... They had the sparse crowd into it and played their hearts out up there. This is why I said earlier to keep an eye out for this band because you'll be hearing about them a lot within the scene."

Spooky Radio, France
"Imagine the Blues Brothers and long American motorways, but under full moon. Then take the dirty wildness of Deadbolt, and place all that in a post-punk Tarantino context. Do you have a good image? Now transpose that into notes and you'll have a small idea of what this album is."

"Great album... A masterpiece."

Closed Caskets For The Living Impaired, KUCI FM
"Frankly, I can't play your music enough."

Noxious Conundrum of Igor Spectre
Noxious Conundrum
Bassive Aggression
By day Jeff mutilates high art films, by night he cranks out low art films en masse.  But on the weekend he's a rock n' roll whiner with Eager Spackler, a band so sarcastic and dark that their only fans are themselves. Orgill finds his latest rock incarnation life- giving after playing guitar for bands such as Loud and Pregnant, Stinkfinger, The Apocalypse and The Hollow Men US, and keyboards for Love Society which tried, but failed, to take The Three O' Clock out of the limelight before tackling, and also failing to lick,  The Cure and Echo & The Bunnymen. Jeff looks forward to playing Disneyland's Tomorrowland someday.
Robert James of Igor Spectre

Vocal Throttle
A participant in the L.A. club circuit since the late 80's, Robert James worked as an independent night club promoter/event organizer for over five years. He collaborated on events such as Incredibly Strange Rock n' Roll Wrestling and The Dionysus Demolition Derby 2-3 at such venues as Bar Delux, Moguls, Spaceland, The Hollywood Athletic Club, and The Garage. Known by many names, Robert James has appeared in various independent films and stage productions throughout the years and has probably fucked your sister. Robert James co-founded the band Igor Spectre in 2000 with guitarist Brian O'Malley out of a desire to make music that combined the elements of darkness, glam, fun, sarcasm, and rock n' roll.
Braxus Bane
B. Scott O'Malley
Guitar Hero
"Braxus W. Bane, Guitarrorist from The Ninth Circuit Plane of Hell," may be the guitar hero of Igor Spectre, but his alter-ego is that of B. Scott O'Malley, indie filmmaker and writer responsible for such ne'er-do-cinema hits as the Super 8 feature film epic, BLEAK FUTURE, a Fangoria and Film Threat favorite. He someday hopes to write about himself in the third person on a rock and roll band website.
